Wordpress Throws in Built-In Support for Markdown

With the Ghost platform recently launched and proving to be a viable medium for easy publishing and a clean writing style, it comes as no surprise that Wordpress finally supports writing in Markdown. For those that are unfamiliar with the style, here's the definitely from creator John Gruber.

Markdown is a text-to-HTML conversion tool for web writers. Markdown allows you to write using an easy-to-read, easy-to-write plain text format, then convert it to structurally valid XHTML (or HTML).

I've been learning how to write in Markdown and have installed awesome plugins for support in my Wordpress site such as Markdown on Save Improved and WP-Footnotes. Of course with this launching, I suppose I can turn these off now but I still have yet to find where to "activate" the setting.

Vesper Sync Coming Soon

As stated, it's coming. Maybe in a year, most likely in a few months and this is BIG news!  But the biggest question remains.  Which service will Vesper and the team take advantage of?  We've seen the troubles with iCloud and the popular app Yojimbo outlines in complete detail why they ultimately chose not to support Apple's Cloud software package.

That said, we’re going to make an exception, quite possibly just this once, and announce what we’re working on next for Vesper: Sync.

note: I haven't updated to the latest iteration due to the face that its exclusive for iOS 7.  Other than that, I love it!  If you haven't read the blog on the history of it's design process, do it now.  It's a great read.

Catching up to the iPhone

With the release of Google's Galaxy Nexus by Samsung tomorrow on Verizon, I couldn't have pointed it out better myself than Daring Fireball's Mr. John Gruber:  

...The 2008 G1 had a hardware keyboard; a hardware up/down/left/right controller for moving the insertion point in text and navigating menus; dedicated hardware buttons for Menu, Home, Search, and Back; and SD card storage expansion. All of these things were held up by some critics as advantages against the iPhone. Today’s Galaxy Nexus has none of these things.
