A Bike Tour of UCSD Through My Kids Bike Paths →

It was such a beautiful Thursday afternoon, w decided to head to La Jolla and bike around the University of California, San Diego / UCSD. Our kids love their Woom Bikes so much that and couldn't be more proud of their adventurous spirit.

We parked at Revelle College using the ParkMobile App in a (V)isitor spot then made our way towards Atlantis Hall, up by Argo, through Gilbraith (CLICS) down the main path pass "What Hath God Wrought," through the Student Center, passing by Mandeville Auditorium, down the forest and onto Library Walk and Price Center where we had a small picnic.

After we ate a delicious meal from Rubios and dessert from Sprinkles Cupcakes, we headed towards Geisel Library down to Warren but we had to walk up and down the Snake Path. Benji even rode his bike up and down it twice! After a prolonged detour and checking out the Fallen Star / House on top of a building, we made our way to the Engineering / CSE Bear. The kids wanted to climb the bear but we stayed away from that. We then p back to Library Walk, heading west up the CogSci Stairs, which weren't there before, into Marshall towards the Marshall Uppers, all the way across the bridge to Oceanview Terrace. We then took the upper route back to Revelle. All the while, Adelle and I reminiscing about our time on campus over 20 years ago. So much has changed! The kids loved the stories on where we met and wanted to retrace our conversation. Fun times for sure!

Ragnar Relay: It's Official!

First off, if you don't know what I'm talking about, you can read all about the Ragnar Relay on the official about page. I'm excited to announce that I signed up / volunteered myself to become part of my friend's team and celebrate his 30th birthday with this race! This individual, Jack Pham, also happens to be the person who introduced Adelle to me when he put together an awesome BBQ way back for Memorial Day 2000. He was also my UCSD freshman year roommate's high school classmate. I just can't believe that it's been over 10 years since all this! Back to the race. I will be participating in the Ragnar Relay So Cal edition which will cover ~200 miles from Huntington Beach, CA to Coronado Island, San Diego from April 15th to April 16th and am running as the 4th Runner covering a total of 15.4 miles.

I just came back from the first team meeting, and I'm super excited! There's a lot to prepare for in my journey to running my first marathon (San Diego Rock 'n' Roll on June 5th) and this is just one of the ways that I'm motivating myself.

PICTURE THIS: You and 11 of your buddies running relay style, day and night, in a 200-mile running event through Southern California. Starting south of Los Angeles in beautiful Huntington Beach your team of 12 runners will head south down the pacific coast. Along the way you will pass through Anaheim, Carlsbad, Del Mar and La Jolla. The race (and your stamina) will wrap up near San Diego on beautiful Coronado Island. This race had better make your running calendar; you really won’t want to miss it.

Introducing Dr. Bobby Nourani, D.O.

Let me start off by saying that this gentleman is truly an inspiration.   His passion, desire and vision shines light on what a true family doctor is and should be.  Without a doubt, he is a remarkable individual.  Yeah, that might sound a little much but, deep down, it's what I really believe. Dr. Bobby Nourani has taught me, enlightened me as well as treated me in times of need, friendship and bro-hood.   I have known Babak "Bobby" Nourani since 1999.  We shared a few class together during our years at the University of California, San Diego and have been close friends since. Back then, I was an Animal Physiology / Neuroscience Major and he was already set on being a doctor so common ground was established. We attended great parties, had good friends and overall excellent times.

Fast forward 4 years later, he comes running down the stadium stairs, finds me in line for the general procession and we graduate. I ended up in Management and he finished what he originally started. Being convinced by the power of Osteopathy while assisting physicians at the Osteopathic Center for Children, he enrolled at Midwestern University-Arizona College of Osteopathic Medicine and attained his medical degree. We kept in touch through the years as I transitioned to being a full-time commercial pilot, but Dr. Bobby Nourani never wavered.   Completing an internship year at Pacific Hospital of Long Beach, Dr. Bobby Nourani has reached his final year of Osteopathic Family Medicine Residency training and has become Co-Chief Resident.

I'm proud to be his friend, colleague and confidant.
