Peloton Bike+

Finally, after all these years of riding my friend’s and using hotel gyms’ Peloton bikes, I’m pulling the trigger first thing tomorrow morning. So if you didn’t know, this is the new Peloton Bike+. Also, if you wanted a cheaper, less expensive Tread, they also released that.

What’s really cool is that they have a $700 trade-in program and are automatically refunding those who bought the now “regular” Peloton $350 price differnce plus tax. So awesome! And yes, I have have a small investment in stocks and options which are what I’m going to be using to buy this new bike.

Mariano Rivera Insane Stat

I heard a stat the other day and it blew my mind:

In human history, more people have walked on the moon than have scored an earned run off of Mariano Rivera in the postseason.

Sounds crazy, right? But it’s true.

According to NASA, 12 people have had the privilege of walking on the moon.

According to Baseball Reference, 11 people have scored an earned run off of Playoff Mo.

Amazing. Simply amazing. And to be nominated into the baseball Hall of Fame unanimously. What a career and to be the first player ever unanimously voted into the Baseball Hall of Fame; what an achievement!

Revenge of the Chargers' Fans

“God, I am so glad I no longer root for the Chargers,” tweeted Justin Halpern, the former San Diegan behind the “Sh*t My Dad Says” books and Twitter feed. “That was like watching your ex throw up on the dance floor at a party and knowing that’s no longer your problem.”

Probably the best descriptor of how I feel about this season or lack thereof. If she turns into the prom queen a few years from now, great, but if not, it'll continue to be business as usual. Go 1904FC and Soccer City!

No City Name Chargers

Giving L.A. a second NFL team is like giving Miami a second snowplow. Nobody asked for it, nobody wants it and nobody knows what to do with it. Spanos has said publicly that he hopes San Diegans still support their Chargers and will drive the 120 miles to L.A. You might as well ask your first wife to pay your second wife’s car payments. San Diego has too much self-respect to do that.

Yup, not more than 1 minute this year have I watched an NFL game. Just don’t give a poop. So SD Soccer City!!!

Let the Banner Fly!

Disgruntled Chargers fan Joseph MacRae bought a banner to fly over the stadium in Carson to send a message to Dean Spanos about how much San Diego fans detest the move to L.A.

Recently, Spanos tried to stop it by contacting the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and requesting a temporary flight restriction (TFR) for game days.

However, the FAA only grants TFRs for stadiums and arenas that hold 30,000 or more, and since the StubHub Center capacity is under 30,000 -- the Chargers announced a sellout at 25,386 during their game with the Kansas City Chiefs last Sunday -- the FAA will not grant the TFR.

Just too much awesome not to link back to!

LA Galaxy Sells More Than LA Chargers

StubHub Center holds 27,000 and the Chargers, who are in the midst of their absurd “Fight For LA” campaign, couldn’t even pack the damn place. Bear in mind, in San Diego there would have been a minimum of 45,000 people at that preseason game and probably more.

Awesome article. Sorry I don't wish failure on the team, but the owners can go lose their monies. The tweets from Jeremy Trotter are even funnier.

Atlanta United Brings in Fourth Biggest Crowd -- Worldwide!!!

According to a report from Soccer America on Monday, Sunday night's 2-1 league-debut loss to the New York Red Bulls drew the weekend's fourth-largest soccer crowd worldwide. The attendance of 55,927 was topped only by 75,000-plus crowds at the home grounds of Borussia Dortmund, FC Barcelona and Manchester United.

Remarkable! Let's bring this to San Diego already!!! One of my buddies has season tickets and this would be something I'd love to take my family too. Check out his view from Section 128 Row 12!!!

And look at those crowds in the street!!!

Robbing Home Runs

If you ask me about the most memorable play I ever made, it’s probably going back-to-back home runs. But my best play? That happened at the 415-foot mark, just below the Tiger Stadium overhang. If I close my eyes, I can still feel the ball rolling back into my palm.

Still one of my favorite players. What a beautiful article and medium that The Players' Tribune has become.

49,700 Milligrams of Sodium in 10 minutes

A Nathan's Famous Hot Dog, with the bun, has 710 milligrams of sodium. According to Goldberg, someone with heart problems should shoot for fewer than 1,500 milligrams daily, or 2,000 milligrams if you're healthier. When Chestnut trounced Kobayashi, he ate roughly 46,860 milligrams of sodium in his winning meal.

That was from his 66 hotdog championship over Kobayashi in 2007. Yesterday's new world record, Joey "Jaws" Chestnut hit 70 hotdogs in 10 minutes. Salt lick anyone?

Durant Chooses the Golden State Warriors

The primary mandate I had for myself in making this decision was to have it based on the potential for my growth as a player — as that has always steered me in the right direction. But I am also at a point in my life where it is of equal importance to find an opportunity that encourages my evolution as a man: moving out of my comfort zone to a new city and community which offers the greatest potential for my contribution and personal growth. With this in mind, I have decided that I am going to join the Golden State Warriors.

A thoughts of a real man making a very personal decision.
