Tastemade-ing on Anniversary at Underbelly

Adelle and I decided to keep it fancy but simple. She knew that I loved ramen so we headed down to Little Italy to enjoy Underbelly. While there, I decided that we could make a quick Tastemade video. It's the first of many and we're just learning the trade. Check it out!

SNL Entertains

Over the weekend, Justin Timberlake entertained us as host and musical guest on Saturday Night Live.  This marked his entrance into the Five-Timers Club joining the ranks of other famous celebrities such as Tom Hanks, Alec Baldwin, and Steve Martin.

As of late, I'll admit SNL has had more misses than hits.  Usually the first thirty minutes of the show includes all the best skits and I stop watching, but with Justin at the helm, it proved much more entertaining.  Vegan Ville, was an easy favorite of mine but the rest of the skits worked out better than most.  Maybe it's my lower expectations but I liked it.

Without surprise, he performed his "Suit & Tie" hit single with Jay-Z stepping up on stage and he also slyly changed some lyrics throwing it back at Kanye for his earlier snub at the song.  Finishing up, he performed his another single "Mirrors" and I'll admit, it was a great show to watch.

Pickup Justin's new album, The 20/20 Experience, on Amazon for only $7.00!

Did you happen to catch him wearing the famous red-soled shoes by Christian Louboutin during his musical performances?

Norah Jones Sings "Everybody Needs Best Friend"

A beautiful performance by Norah Jones. This song, "Everybody Needs a Best Friend" features music by Walter Murphy and lyrics by Seth MacFarlane from the movie TED. It was easily one of my favorite movies of 2012 and if you haven't seen it, it's out on DVD & Blu-Ray.

Unfortunately, NBC still chooses to use Adobe Flash for their video offerings, so if you're using Safari, just open up Chrome and use the built in player.

Walt Mossberg's Quick Take

A trusted source of knowledge and opinion, Walt Mossberg from the Wall Street Journal's All Things D handles the Apple iPhone 5.

...I still consider the iPhone [5] the best smartphone on the market, especially with its staggering 700,000 third-party apps and a wealth of available content.

Man Triumphs Against the Red Planet

If you haven't watched this yet or have been just over burdened by all things Olympics, then you've been missing out how amazing we (the US, mankind, etc) really are. Watch this video from NASA JPL showing the sequence that took place just a couple of days ago. The pictures that the rover are returning are beyond beautiful too! America rocks!!! A freaking sky crane!!!

The Best Laptop without a Budget

Here's a great video review of Apple's latest MacBook Pro with Retina display by Ross Miller at The Verge.  It's short and sweet and gets right to the point.  You can drool over the beautifully written review too! It's been over three and half years since I bought a laptop, the first unibody 5,1 MacBook Pro, and I definitely think it's time to upgrade.  If you ask me, I'm all for choosing the higher tiered model at $2,799 then upgrading to the faster  2.7GHz Quad-core Intel Core i7 because of the higher cache on chip = 8MB L3, and then going with 16GB RAM.  Yes, it's an extra $450, but worth it since you can't upgrade later on.  Spec it out now and be happy for the next couple of years.  And no, I don't think that upgrading the hard drive to the 768 SSD is particularly worth another extra $500 as you can get a Thunderbolt drive for that kind of price.  Spec it out!

"It is the most expensive MacBook Pro out there, one of the most expensive laptops out there, but… if budget is not an issue, this is the best laptop you can buy right now." - Ross Miller, The Verge

Here's picture of the Retina display up close. AMAZING!

I wish I was worthy to receive a review unit!

Google's Glasses

I've been wearing glasses since I was eight years old; that's 22 years of a piece of glass that only allowed me to see a surface more clearly. Am I excited for something better...YES. Does it look dorky? When you have questions like what's the temperature and look at me weirdly, I'll let you pull out your phone and look it up yourself smiling back knowingly. If you're interested in the technology, it's truly wearable augmented reality coming soon! If you think of the practical solutions, think of a nurse or doctor approaching a patient; the chart right there available with a blink of an eye complete with history and diagnosis. Prices or movie times without going into the theater. It's uses are infinite. I might not wait for Apple to come up with something better.
